I have worked in the Inland Revenue / HMRC for 18 years and have been a member of Proud for 5 years. I feel that I have got a lot out of Proud. Since joining I have attended AGMs, a Seminar and have met a lot of very interesting and diverse Proud members who have shared their experiences and challenges with me. At the start of the year I was elected as the new PCS Proud Rep for the Northern Ireland Region a role I job share with Gareth Lee. I was also elected on to the Northern Ireland Branch Committee as the Proud Rep.

I took on these roles to get more actively involved in supporting and representing LGBT members in my region and the wider network. Since taking on the roles I have attended Proud and Branch meetings. I also worked with Proud Reps Dorian and Kath on our Proud stand at the PCS Annual Conference in Brighton.

Gareth and I worked at the 19th Belfast Pride which was attended by more than 9000 people, the highest turnout to date. It was a very successful event and an excellent opportunity to network with many of the local Equality organisations represented. We are looking forward to the 20th Anniversary next year.
