Hello Everyone,

My name is Eve Mitchell and I work part time for Jobcentre Plus in Tonbridge. I have worked in the civil service for six years and for most of that time have not been active in union roles but being a PCS member. A couple of years ago I saw an article in the PCS magazine advertising ‘Proud’ and the seminar it was running. I decided to go along and find out more. From that point I became more active within ‘Proud’ I got to know other reps from all over country and the work that they do.

I am also Equal opportunities and Equality rep within my local branch which is ‘West Kent’ region and help to spread the word about ‘Proud’ and what they are doing

As ‘South Coast rep I hope to run a stall at Brighton Pride next year and possibly Canterbury, where people can come and say hello and pick up a ‘Proud’ freebie!

The annual seminar held in November each year is a good way to meet other members and details of how to apply are posted on the ‘Proud’ website.

Outside of work, I help run a Lesbian group in southeast London, We meet on a regular basis and organise social activities i.e. cinema trips, nights on the scene, parties etc.
