Welcome to the disability page for PCS Proud.

Proud disability is here to offer support and information for any Proud member who self identifies as disabled. There’s no need for an occupational health report here, or for you to fit into some sort of definition or another.

We also offer support for PCS reps who would like help or input with personal cases. PCS’s own research shows that an alarming percentage of LGBTs have suffered abuse at work solely because of their sexuality or trans status, yet alone having a disability.

Mental health issues are largely swept under the carpet and cruel and insulting words are used in offices across the country, get yourself a ‘words can kill’ poster for your office.

Our employers are currently cutting back on staff, using sick records to cut staff has happened and will continue to happen (even if it’s time off because of a disability). Access to work has been removed for a vast number of civil servants.

With all these attacks on our rights we need to stand together: just like LGBT people stood up over the years to get ‘gay rights’ so disabled people need to fight to protect those legal rights we have already won.

Please help raise disability awareness and be proud of being LGBT disabled.

Your disability rep is Dorion Griffiths if you need to contact Dorion; please email him on: dorion.griffiths@thepensionservice.gsi.gov.uk
